Andalucia - Spain

The O·live Retreat venues* in Spain a modestly renovated Andalusian Cortijos or houses in the countryside near Málaga. Nestled in rolling olive fields, its tranquility, comfort, clean air and nature make it a perfect detoxing environment.

The “Horse Venue” is our large cortijo, set in pristine nature where wild horses may come along for our afternoon walks, and the sensitive, protected Spanish Imperial eagle and Leonado vulture can breed. (That's the sign we look for when searching for a perfectly clean O·live Retreat venue.) For all our venues we stick to the nature reserve of Sierra de las Nieves for the cleanest air and water. The most important room is the kitchen and nature.

The settings of the venues allow beautiful, relaxing walks or runs, exciting forest hikes, good exercise and clean air to enhance an efficient detox on a cellular and energetic level. There is usually a pool but it’s not nice swimming until June.

In all cases no toxic substances are allowed, including harmful pesticides or chemical applications, or cleaning products. We are very careful to leave a low impact, which means you can expect nature to visit us in many forms - flies, mosquitoes, wild animals, frogs, foxes, wild bores, dogs, birds of all kinds, and anything else that might appear in the countryside. We are back to nature :)

* Our venues change depending on the season, the program and the groups we host.

Prachuap Khiri Khan - Thailand

Unique, enchanting and beautifully remote, O·live Retreat leads you to a hidden gem on the coast of Thailand, only 3h south of Bangkok yet so peaceful in the jungle, next to a royal nature preserve generously, sharing its wildlife with us. Here we have our own property, located in the lovely fishing village of Khao Tao, right on the most amazing beaches with the softest sand, and framed by fabulous mountains and temples. You’ll meet nature, earth, air, water, and all it gives birth to. Feel it with your senses and be with it, a very important, integral part of your detox. The setting allows us to step further into the detox and really figure things out.

Medicinal herbs, flowers and trees grow wild and you’ll be offered them as drinks. We have set out to cooperate with nature instead of fighting it, and to leaving as low an impact as possible without losing our purpose. Nature is where we hold our classes and eat our meals, the same spot in paradise if you choose a Prana Pod or a tent, both next to the Shala (classroom). Wildlife abounds here so expect a deer to be chewing near your tent, or a peacock or dozen to come swooping down from the mountains. Two kinds of monkeys visit us often, both of them quite entertaining. If you go for the more conventional option of a Thai Hut, you’ll be sleeping at a venue next door, only 5 minutes away. There you’ll enjoy a pool and we’ll often walk down to hang out with you. Included is a bicycle and you can rent a scooter too.

In Thailand you have the choice to sleep in our modern Decathlon tents designed for tropical areas, or our proprietary Prana Pods, a screened in room that you can pull out for stargazing. Both choices offer 100% outdoor living which will enhance your detox. The third option is in a traditional Thai Hut with veranda and ensuite toilet. We cooperate with a venue 5 minutes away for your sleeping accommodation, but the rest of the program and all meals are provided at our land. If you stay longer than a week you can try all accommodation options. Let us know and we’ll work it out together.

We provide complimentary airport pickup by a comfortable bus with AC, and return from Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport included in the price. The bus will take you to Hua Hin bus station and from there we arrange a cab, in total approximately four hours. If your flights conflict with bus times or if you rather take a taxi or private car, you will be picked up at the airport and take you right to your home for the stay. It’s an easy drive of approximately three hours (250km) on highway, and usually one stop.

Bus transfers are included in the price of your retreat. Private cars are an additional.

We practice morning yoga together on the beach or on the top floor of our Shala amongst the tree tops. Then we might dip in the sea before a boosting breakfast and your first health class. Usually we are done by 11 with the morning program and you have time to chill before lunch. Everyone interested in cooking are welcome to help at the market and later in the actual cooking process itself. This is a good time to learn the tricks and treats of healthy plant-based cooking. Our days of advanced preparations with dehydrators and other (non environmental friendly) machines are long gone. Our meals are simple, nutritious and fast, and we aspire to save your health, water, energy and time.

There will be time to explore the beauty of the surrounding temples, markets, nature and more in the afternoon before the exercise and meditation class at around 5 pm. Dinner is served in easily digested form (good for your detox) under the stars at our Shala. The stars and the views tend to lead us into amazing talks about what really matters in life. You are free to hang out as long as you want, though the light and noise pollution is not encouraged after 9.30. We respect and love our sleeping meditation.
